VIDEO: A Mission woman accused of stealing an EMS ambulance was arrested on Friday. According to a Pharr press release, Pharr EMS was transporting a patient from Alton to a hospital in Mission when they arrived at the medical center at 11:59 a.m. As medics took the patient inside the hospital, a female who had been recently discharged from the hospital jumped inside the ambulance on the driver's side. The woman was able to push a hospital security guard out of the way as he attempted to stop her, the release stated. She then closed the door and drove off in the ambulance. Pharr EMS Chief Danny Ramirez said that medics immediately contacted the Mission Police Department, and provided a live feedback to officers via the ambulance's internal camera system.

A family on the city's West Side was able to escape a fire inside their home late Sunday night, the San Antonio Fire Department said. The fire was called in just after 9 p.m. in the 10000 block of Ranger Canyon, not far from North Ellison and West Military Drive. Firefighters said when they arrived they found flames coming from the second floor of the home. The fire was knocked down quickly and without incident. Fire officials said it looks like the fire may have started on the outside of the home in some trash cans. They say the fire extended up the wall from the trash cans got into the attic and on the second floor. The fire also damaged a nearby home. There were no reports of injuries, firefighters said. A damage estimate was not disclosed.

A fire that spread from a burn barrel on Sunday afternoon in the Dixie Community threatened multiple homes before fighters were able to get a handle on it. Meanwhile, those same firefighters are urging people to cease outdoor burning due to extremely dry conditions. The Beech Grove and Angelina River Fire Departments along with the Texas A&M Forest Service responded to the blaze on Private Road 6310 shortly before 2:00 p.m. Firefighters battled both the fire and the heat as the temperature on Sunday afternoon was 99° with a 108° heat index. Although there is currently no burn ban in Jasper County, Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter is urging people to stop burning outdoors.

Three people have been displaced following an apartment fire on the city's Southwest Side late Sunday night, the San Antonio Fire Department said. The fire was called in around 9:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Calgary Drive, not far from South General McMullen and John F. Kennedy High School. Firefighters said when they arrived, they found light smoke showing from a two-story apartment building. They managed to knock down the fire quickly and without incident. Fire officials said the fire started in a second story unit and got up into the attic and then spread quickly across the building. Only three units were occupied, with one person in each unit, firefighters said. They all made it safely out. The three residents were displaced from their homes. The property owner is now helping to accommodate the displaced residents, fire officials said.

Early Sunday morning, Waco Fire crews responded to Area 51 Manufacturing due to reports of equipment on fire. Shortly after 5 a.m., two employees coming into work reported seeing smoke. When fire officials arrived on scene they saw a tank on fire. According to Waco Fire Department Battalion Chief Shon Cavett, materials in the tank got overheated, began to smoke and eventually caught on fire. After cooling the tank, firefighters were able to put out the fire. In total 5 fire engines, two trucks, and two Battalion Chiefs were dispatched to the fire.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The North Las Vegas Police Department confirmed on Sunday afternoon that there was a plane crash at North Las Vegas Airport. Police said they received the call at around 12:04 p.m. The Clark County Department of Aviation provided a statement saying that at the airport, there were two general aviation aircraft that resulted in multiple fatalities. The Federal Aviation Administration said that a single-engine Piper PA-46 and a single-engine Cessna 172 collided in the traffic pattern at North Las Vegas Airport around noon local time Sunday. Preliminary information indicates that the Piper PA-46 was preparing to land when it collided with the Cessna 172. The Piper crashed into in a field east of Runway 30-Right and the Cessna fell into a water retention pond. Two people were aboard each aircraft.

PHOTOS: The schematic design for a new campus that would include a new city hall and fire station was updated and presented to Steamboat Springs City Council on Tuesday, July 12. Principals from Davis Partnership Architects, who are designing the new fire station, and Anderson Hallas Architects, the designers of the new city hall, were present at Tuesday's work session to bring City Council up to speed on the designs' progress. The campus encompasses two parcels, one at the corner of 10th Street and Oak, and another at on the corner of 10th Street and Lincoln Avenue. The design places the new fire station on the northern parcel, where the current city hall building is located. Because the new fire station would need so much space, 10th Street would end at the alleyway between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street, but the space between the civic campus and Centennial Hall will be an open thoroughfare for pedestrian and bike traffic.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Baltic firefighter Wayne Troyer held the fire hose in his right hand and placed his left on his co-worker's shoulder. The referee started the countdown. "Three!" Troyer looked up at the barrel. It was attached on a line that ran above him. Opposite his team were their opponents: three firefighters from the Winesburg Fire Department. "Two!" To his left, hundreds of spectators from communities in and around Holmes County watched from a nearby hill Saturday night as part of the East Holmes Firemen's Festival, adding more pressure to his first water barrel competition. "One!" A whistle sounded and Troyer placed both hands on the fire hose, supporting it for his team's point man who held the nozzle over his shoulder aiming it at the barrel.

VIDEO: Drug overdoses are taking the lives of hundreds of thousands of people every year in the United States. Law enforcement agencies are throwing all of their resources at drug dealers to put a stop to the trafficking of killer drugs, while local firefighters are trying to train the public in reversing the effects. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday the arrests of 13 people in what was called "Operation Meth Side Story," with deputies saying they're searching for five more people. The Sheriff's Office said the investigation resulted in the confiscation of enough narcotics to "kill the entire population of Palm Coast." "We've had 12 overdoses this year, not including three that we had within the last seven days," Staly said. Staly said toxicology tests are still pending to determine if Flagler County's latest overdoses are in any way connected to the arrests in the operation spanning more than two months.
