VIDEO: Two people were injured in a reported house explosion that caused a fire in La Porte, Texas Saturday morning, according to the city. The La Porte Fire Department responded to reports of the explosion and fire on Rocky Hollow Road, which is near West Fairmont Parkway, around 11:54 a.m. Two people were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The official cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials said a gas leak may be to blame. The fire has since been put out. Neighbors told KHOU 11 the reported explosion was so loud that it felt like it shook their homes. One neighbor said he rushed outside as soon as he heard it. "I ran outside and we saw the house was exploded and it caved in. So me and a grandson ran inside," said neighbor Brett Edmonsond.

Their conditions weren't immediately available. Gloria said the cause of the fire is unknown.

PHOTOS: The Austin Fire Department (AFD) is investigating what caused two businesses to go up in flames Friday morning. Austin firefighters spent the morning trying to knock down the large fire that started at a warehouse that was under construction. One of the impacted businesses is The Yard, which is a new mixed-use development in south Austin. Austin Fire said that's where the main fire started. The fire quickly spread to ICON which is a 3D printing construction company. Truesdell said an Austin EMS crew was leaving a hospital when they noticed the fire and called it in. "We don't know how long it had been burning. We didn't receive any alarm evacuations or anything," he said. ICON employees watched as the building went up in flames while firefighters worked to put the fire out.

Projects to replace Friendswood's Fire Station No. 2 and expand the city's public safety building are on track to be completed in the spring, according to a city official. Once complete, the $5 million fire station, 2605 W. Parkwood Drive will better accommodate Friendswood's firefighting needs amid recent population growth, officials say, and it will boast a new training area. "We are about at the halfway point," Engineering Director Jil Arias told the council on Nov. 7. "Steel is up in the air and it looks like we're going to hit a target date of May 2023 at the rate things are going now." City officials said the rebuild also will make the station better able to withstand storms. The current structure, which was built in the early 1980s, was last rehabilitated in 2004.

Firefighters rushed to the scene of a two-alarm fire in downtown Wichita Falls Saturday night. According to WFFD Fire Marshal Cody Melton, shortly before 11 p.m., the fire department responded to a structure fire in the 1000 block of Austin Street. They found heavy fire and smoke coming from a vacant house and called for a second alarm. Additional crews responded and the flames were brought under control quickly. Melton said the fire appeared to have started inside the house or on the porch. He said the utilities were off, and suspects someone was there when the fire started. A witness said he lives nearby and has seen vagrants around the abandoned home. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. In April 2017, one person was injured in a fire at the same address.

A marina warehouse in Mystic was heavily damaged in a four-alarm fire late Sunday night. Multiple departments responded around 9 p.m. to Washington Street on the Stonington side of Mystic for the massive fire at the Seaport Marine Warehouse. "It's an older building that's been around as long as I've been here which is 26 years," said Bruce Flax, president, Mystic Chamber of Commerce. The Salvation Army New London Canteen said it responded as well. The fire started at around 8:45 p.m. and quickly grew. Crews had to use water from the Mystic River to help extinguish the flames, which were visible for hours. "It's sad, it's always sad when something like this happens," Flax said. "It looks like nobody was hurt which is good." The Whalers Inn, a boutique hotel, was evacuated because of the amount of smoke in the air.

Alabama has become the first state in the nation to add peer support training to its curriculum for new fire school recruits, thanks to funding from the Alabama Department of Mental Health and support from the Professional Fire Fighters of Alabama (PFFA). According to reports, 37% of firemen and women have battled post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and firefighters are three times more likely to die on the job than those in other careers. Tragically, one firefighter loses his or her life to suicide every two days. The statewide peer support program will be a valuable keystone in aiding fire personnel in need according to International Association of Fire Fighters General President Edward Kelly. "Adding behavioral health and peer support counseling training into the recruit curriculum is groundbreaking work," he said.

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A pilot and passenger were rescued from a small plane hours after it crashed into a Pepco tower and power lines Sunday evening near Montgomery County Airpark in Gaithersburg, Md. According to the FAA, the single-engine Mooney M20J departed from Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York and crashed in Gaithersburg at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday. The plane was left dangling about 100 feet in the air, according to Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS). It made it tricky for crews to free the people trapped inside the plane. After several hours, around 2:50 Monday morning, crews got the plane on the ground. Power has since been restored to thousands impacted. Maryland State Police identified the pilot as Patrick Merkle, 65, of Washington, D.C. The passenger is identified as Jan Williams, 66, of Louisiana.

VIDEOS: In the blink of an eye the Cocoanut Grove, one of Boston's swankiest nightclubs, became an unimaginable inferno — trapping hundreds of panicked victims as they jammed the club's exits. In less than 15 minutes, 492 people were dead and another 166 injured, making the blaze the deadliest nightclub fire in U.S. history. While no one knows exactly how the fire started 80 years ago on Nov. 28, 1942, its influence on fire and safety codes and on the medical treatment of burn victims still resonates. The fire started at about 10:15 p.m. as revelers packed the club near the city's South End on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, hoping to forget about the early days of World War II for a few hours. The first flames broke out in a basement portion of the club, known as the Melody Lounge.
