VIDEO: A house fire in Bonham over the weekend, left one man deceased just after midnight on Sunday. Former volunteer firefighter Danny Kiser heard a startling noise. "I'm lying in bed, watching tv, and I hear my daughter holler from the back bedroom. I hear her screaming. I heard a sense of fear in her voice, and I got up and I heard her say the neighbor's house is on fire," Kiser said. After calling 911, Kiser went to see if anyone was inside of the home on West Ninth Street. As he made his way to the back of the house, he made a discovery. "I noticed the back windows were busted out, and so I poked my head in there and I screamed, and I hollered. and the heat was just so unbearable that I couldn't stay there very long. I made my way back around front. I tried to extinguish the front of the house with my fire extinguishers and the fire was so large that my little fire extinguisher didn't stand a chance against it at that time," Kiser said. KXII-TV CBS/MYNETWORKTV/FOX 12 SHERMAN Talk to those who know Les Rogers and you're likely to find a common thread among the stories: Les cares about people. Rogers retired as Texas A&M Forest Service Incident Response Department head and chief law enforcement officer last month, capping a 25-year career with the agency. A retirement celebration is set for Feb. 21 in Menard. Rogers had been a law enforcement officer and a volunteer firefighter when he was hired by Texas A&M Forest Service as a regional fire coordinator for Northwest Texas — one of six such positions around the state and a new role for the agency. Paul Hannemann, the agency's lone regional fire coordinator at the time, said Rogers was well-suited for the role. "We were trying to build a program with a group of people who knew our customers and had good knowledge of the area, and he fit the role perfectly," said Hannemann, who retired in 2020. AGRILIFE TODAY Two people living in a storage shed suffered "severe burns" when they caught four units on fire. Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, the Randall County Fire Department was dispatched to a storage facility at 615 W. Loop 335 South. The caller told the dispatcher that the storage units were on fire. The Randall County Sheriff's Office arrived first and found fire in several units and reported multiple people with burn injuries. Randall County Fire Department, along with the Amarillo Fire Department and Lake Tanglewood Volunteer Fire Department, brought the fire under control at about 10:36 p.m. The burn victims were taken to an Amarillo hospital and later transferred to Lubbock for further treatment. The victim's identities and conditions were not released. KVII-TV ABC/CW+ 7 AMARILLO San Antonio firefighters are focusing on a heater that a family was using to warm their pets as the cause of a fire in their Northwest Side home. The fire, which broke out shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday, caused heavy damage to the home. When fire crews arrived in the 7100 block of Valewood View, they say they found smoke coming from the front of the home and flames on the back side. The fire spread into the attic, causing damage throughout the home. Firefighters say three people who live in the home, two adults and a child, had escaped safely on their own. They say the residents woke up to the sound of their smoke detectors. Fire crews had to go in and rescue two pets, a cat and turtle. Both animals are safe now. Although fire investigators will be determining the exact cause of the fire, firefighters say it appears the fire started in the heater, outside the home. KSAT-TV ABC 12 SAN ANTONIO A late night fire burned multiple rooms of a home in north Amarillo. Just before 11 p.m. Monday, the Amarillo Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 925 North Cleveland Street. The first crew on scene reported heavy fire on the side of the house. Firefighters knocked down the fire on the side of the house before going inside where they found multiple rooms on fire. There were no injuries. The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause. KVII-TV ABC/CW+ 7 AMARILLO VIDEO: Corpus Christi Fire Department is looking into the cause of a fire that sparked earlier this morning. THE PAPER The Wausau Fire Department has been having a bit of fun while the crew isn't fighting fires or rescuing people around the community. The department posted a video on its Facebook page Monday, premiering its full parody episode of "The Office," a popular sitcom that began in 2005. "The Fire Department" introduces the crew while having a good amount of fun, taking to the comedic style of "The Office." The episode comes after the department secured a grant to add 12 new positions. The team says it is dedicating the video to the newly hired crew as they continue to fill positions. From the iconic World's Best Boss mug to crew members staring into the camera, the department captures the shenanigans of "The Office." WLUK-TV FOX 11 GREEN BAY PHOTOS: A Philadelphia Eagles fan apparently didn't handle his team's Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs very well. Edward Dalasandro, 25, of Philadelphia was arrested Sunday night after the Martin County Sheriff's Office said he vandalized a fire station and assaulted a firefighter with a meat cleaver. Investigators said the incident occurred at a fire station located along Northeast Ocean Boulevard at about 10 p.m. The sheriff's office said Dalasandro ransacked the bunk rooms of the fire station, urinated on the carpet and stole $126, a uniform hat and some knives. When firefighters confronted him, Dalasandro threw a meat cleaver at them, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post. Firefighters were able to contain him until deputies arrived. Dalasandro faces charges of armed burglary, aggravated assault on a firefighter, petit theft. WPTV NBC 5 PALM BEACH Husband and wife firefighters in Montgomery County cherish the opportunity to volunteer alongside one another. In celebration of Valentine's Day, the Montgomery County Fire Chiefs Association is happy to recognize these couples. Tyler Miles and Gina Walters-Miles began volunteering at Limerick Fire Department as junior firefighters at age 16. Most of their family members volunteer at the fire station as well. "My great grandfather and my grandmother were members. My father and my father-in-law are both active firefighters," said Gina. Tyler is a lieutenant at Limerick Fire Department and Gina, on top of firefighting, is the first female on the board of directors. Tyler also works as a career firefighter at Upper Providence Township and Gina is an autistic support teacher, which inspired her to start Limerick's Firefighter Day Camp for Individuals with Special Needs.
