VIDEO/PHOTOS: A firefighter was hospitalized after a fiercely burning fire caused a three-story building to collapse in south Montgomery County on Monday evening, according to officials. Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a fire in the 25600 block of Interstate 45 at about 7:45 p.m. Firefighters said the heavy fire was coming out of the second and third stories of the building that was under construction. Officials said the building completely caved in after about 45 minutes of being on fire. The fire chief noted that it was in the early construction, making the walls lightweight with no exterior walls. South Montgomery County's Battalion Chief Nathan Huffman said one firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

VIDEO: The Port Neches Fire Department continues to mourn the loss of one of their own. Curtis Trahan, 69, served the fire department and the city for over four decades. With heavy hearts, the fire department announced they were mourning his passing in a Sunday Facebook post. Trahan is described as a man who always had the respect of colleagues. Fire Chief Eloy Vega said Trahan's professionalism and connection to the community played a key role in helping him climb the ranks. Captain Trahan started with the Port Neches FD in an entry-level position in 1974. "He carried that passion with him, and was a very successful fire officer, to the point where he inspired, his leadership inspired his crew and for that, we're very thankful," Chief Vega said. Trahan retired in 2018 after 43 years of service.

As temperatures drop, Lubbock Fire Rescue said on Monday that calls related to carbon monoxide poisoning rise, and that's what the department has seen in recent weeks. "This time of year, it's actually more common than we would like, and we tend to see a spike the first few times a year when people start firing up those heating appliances," said Deputy Chief Nick Wilson with Lubbock Fire Rescue. Five people were sent to the hospital after being exposed to carbon monoxide in central Lubbock on Sunday morning. The incident happened at the Hoff Gardens Apartments on 34th Street. LFR told everythinglubbock.com that anyone with gas appliances in their home should have a working carbon monoxide detector, because most deadly CO poisoning incidents can be prevented.

VIDEO: A home in west Houston is completely damaged after a fire sparked on Sunday morning, according to officials. Crews with the Houston Fire Department responded to a fire in the 13300 block of Ascot Glen Lane at about 4:15 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy flames coming from a one-story wood frame house, according to the department. Fire crews said they made a fast attack and protected the houses on each side of the burning home. Officials said the house and one car that was in the driveway were totaled. Video in the media player shows a blanket of smoke hovering over the house and the vehicle charred. According to HFD, the fire started in the garage, possibly from BBQ grilling in the garage, and spread to the whole house. Everyone inside the home was able to escape the fire with no injuries.

Firefighters are battling a large fire burning at a home goods warehouse in Huntington Park. The fire was reported at Slauson Avenue and Soto Street in the community south of downtown Los Angeles. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Details about a cause were not immediately available. Firefighters were in defensive mode, meaning conditions inside the building were too dangerous for firefighters to enter the structure. The home good warehouse contained combustible items that fueled the fire. Several other businesses are located inside the building.

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: It was 42 years ago when fire and suffocating smoke raced through the MGM Grand Hotel killing 87 people and injuring more than 600. That tragedy led to sweeping safety changes stretching beyond the Las Vegas Strip. The fire happened in the original location of the MGM Grand Hotel which is now Bally's Las Vegas – but soon to be renamed Horseshoe. The electrical fire started in a restaurant creating a fireball that tore through the casino floor and sent smoke and fumes through the ventilation system into the hotel rooms where people were sleeping. Many of the deaths were due to smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. "It was a major, major fire," said former Clark County Fire Department Chief Fire Investigator Mike Patterson. "It's indwelled upon my brain forever." Patterson says various factors, including zero sprinklers in the casino, contributed to the deadly aftermath that morning.

VIDEO: Just recently, Maine native and pro boxer Jason Quirk took home the American Boxing Federation's Middleweight Championship- right here in his home state. "I remember thinking, ‘This is the coolest thing that's ever happened in my life,'" Quirk said. "There was 3,000 people there, at one point they were all chanting my name. It gave me energy but I didn't want to change my game plan." Quirk, who hails from Portland, Maine, improved to a perfect 10-0 in his career, beating former champ Anthony Hines by unanimous decision to claim the belt. "I knew Anthony was a good opponent, it was an eight-round fight, which I had never done before," Quirk said. "I knew I was going to be in for a war." Quirk's also known as ‘The Fighting Fireman,' and works full-time with the Portland Fire Dept., a story that dates back to his days as an amateur fighter.

PHOTOS: This one isn't going down in flames. Fox News lit an enormous fireproof tree outside their Midtown headquarters on Monday night following last year's devastating arson attack. The 50-foot tall tree was unveiled at Fox Square in Midtown during a tree lighting hosted live by Greg Gutfeld, Judge Jeanine Pirro, Dana Perino, Jessica Tarlov and Jesse Watters. This Christmas tree comes a year after an unhinged firebug torched the 2021 tree outside Fox News' Midtown headquarters, creating a massive fire. The arsonist allegedly set the red, white and blue artificial tree ablaze after "thinking about lighting the tree on fire all day," according to police. Anchor Gutfeld joked on Monday, "[We will] hit that button to light this sucker up – and not in a bad way."
