Fort Worth firefighters hospitalized, released after rollover crash in fire engine PHOTOS: Four firefighters were hospitalized Saturday morning after their fire engine rolled over in a crash while headed to a house fire, the Fort Worth Fire Department (FWFD) said. The FWFD said Engine 12 was responding to a house fire just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday when it was involved in a rollover accident on NW 28th Street. There were not any other vehicles involved in the crash, according to the department. The firefighters went to the hospital with minor injuries. The FWFD posted photos from the crash on its Facebook page. The firefighters were treated for their injuries and released Saturday morning, according to the department. "Thank you for your outpouring of support and prayers," the department said in a comment on the Facebook post. WFAA-TV ABC 8 DALLAS Most destructive wildfire in state history remembered 11 years later in Bastrop County It's been 11 years since the most destructive wildfire in Texas history roared through Bastrop. On Labor Day weekend in 2011, and wind-blown power line sparked a complex of fires, killing two people. Even more, than a decade later, remnants still burn the Bastrop County Wildfires into the memories of residents, like Beverly Lloyd. Lloyd lives on Cottletown Road in Smithville, Texas, where a lot of the destruction occurred on Sept. 2, 2011. Fortunately for her, she and her husband have planned to go out of town for the holiday weekend and weren't home when the fire broke out. But that doesn't mean she didn't see the devastation unfold. "Our house didn't actually burn until Monday," Lloyd recalled. "Monday night, somebody put a video on TV, or YouTube or something, going up and down the street, showing us all burnt houses." KABB-TV FOX 29 SAN ANTONIO Payne Springs firefighters respond to new home construction fire PHOTOS: Payne Springs Fire Rescue report a structure fire in Cedar Creek Cove on Monday. KLTV ABC 7 TYLER Rusk County: Crims Chapel Volunteer Fire Department receives new rescue equipment The Crims Chapel Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a new cutter and spreader through a grant from the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program. The rescue equipment will be used in vehicle extrication and general rescues. The tools will be placed on the department's primary rescue unit, allowing the older set to be placed on another unit. "With another set of tools, we will be able to run two separate calls, or use both on the same call if needed," Fire Chief Marvin Vinson said. "The old set required long hoses and a power unit to operate, making it very cumbersome to use." As a member agency of the Texas A&M University System, the Texas A&M Forest Service administers the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program and is committed to protecting lives, property and natural resources. KILGORE NEWS HERALD Part of Houston aquarium's facade collapses, injuring woman A woman is recovering at a hospital after a part of a popular downtown Houston restaurant's facade collapsed onto her. Houston Fire Department said its crews were called to the Downtown Aquarium restaurant on Bagby Street at about 7:55 p.m., where officials said a portion of the outdoor facade next to the aquarium ticket booth fell. It "wasn't a lot," the fire department initially told ABC13 about the partial collapse. HFD Deputy Chief Douglas Harrison characterized the woman's injuries as non-life threatening. The cause of the collapse is being investigated, though, Harrison pointed at a waterfall fixture and collecting pool next to where the collapse happened. Landry's Inc., the owner of the downtown landmark, is expected to send industrial engineers to pinpoint a cause, Harrison said. 39 People Displaced, 3 Homes Charred in Massive New Jersey Blaze VIDEO: The American Red Cross is assisting 11 families after a devastating overnight inferno left nearly 40 Newark residents without a place to sleep. Firefighters rushed to Clifton Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday for a fire that appeared to start in an abandoned building on the block. Eventually the flames spread to two neighboring homes and required a 3-alarm response from fire crews, who were still putting water on the structures well after the sun came up. Officials estimated 39 people were displaced by the fire, 11 of which were children. There were no immediate reports of any injuries. Neighbors said the fire appeared to start in a home abandoned for several years -- a home they said should have been on the city's radar following countless complaints. WNBC-TV NBC 4 NEW YORK Pennsylvania 9/11 first responder needs your help to get a new heart You may not know the name Terry Shaffer, but we'll always remember what he and his crew did when Flight 93 crashed on Sept. 11, 2001. Terry, now 66 years old, was the Shanksville Fire Chief on that fateful day in American history. Along with the Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department, Terry was one of the first responders at the scene after Flight 93's impact. He was also involved with forming the memorial. He was recognized for his leadership as fire chief and is now turning to his community for help. Friends and family of the former fire chief are launching a public fundraising campaign: Heart4Terry. The campaign hopes to help Terry to undergo a heart transplant as soon as possible. He was listed for a transplant in November at UPMC Presbyterian due to advanced heart failure. WHTM-TV ABC 27 HARRISBURG Kentucky firefighters could appear in upcoming feature film Some Kentucky firefighters showed off their acting chops this summer during the filming of a movie in Louisville. The Zoneton Fire Protection District posted on Facebook saying they were "sworn to secrecy" until now and that many of their firefighters will likely appear in the upcoming film, "The Muzzle," as background actors. The firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire several times as a part of the film. According to the post, the film is about "an LAPD K-9 officer, Jake Rosser, who has just witnessed the shocking murder of his dedicated partner by a mysterious assailant. As he investigates the shooter's identity, he uncovers a vast conspiracy that has a chokehold on the city." The film stars "The Dark Knight" actor Aaron Eckhart as the Los Angeles K-9 police officer who unravels a conspiracy in LA. Bullitt County Emergency Medical Services also took part in the thriller, according to Zoneton Fire, providing ambulances for the scene. From things like a stress ball to sensory toys, the sensory kits are designed to be a tool in first responders' vehicles. The items in them can help reduce stimulus sensory response of those with autism. Officers say the suspect took his own life after a seven-hour standoff. Barr had also been a firefighter in Monetta since he was 15. Barr was not married and did not have any kids, but he left behind his mother, father and older sister.
