Firefighters in Dumas risked their lives to keep a bad fire from getting much worse. On Monday afternoon, gasoline and diesel fuel tanks and filling equipment caught on fire at Garcia Harvesters near the North Plains Country Club. At one point, one of the lids blew off a tank, sending it flying high into the air. According to the Dumas Fire Department, crews had to get next to the tanks that were on fire so they could shut off a valve and put out the flames. Fortunately, they managed to do that without anyone getting hurt. "Everyone is safe and the incident is stabilized and over," said the fire department. Eduardo Valdez, who lives in Dumas, used a drone to capture amazing aerial video of the fire fight. He captured the moment the lid blew off. "We appreciate the strong efforts by all fire personnel involved," said the fire department.

VIDEO: World Heart Day is just a few days away, and in honor of that, one Houston firefighter is sharing his story of how his own fellow first responders came to his rescue when his heart nearly stopped. Being a firefighter is not an easy job. But for Engineer Operator Jason Belin, it's a job he loves but nearly had to quit after he got quite the scare back in June. "The personnel that I was working with that day said that I passed out for a minute or so," Belin said. Jason was in training with other first responders when his heart rate dropped. He was only 46 years old and had no history of heart problems. "At that time, they noticed that my heart rate had dropped from 80 beats per minute to 20 beats per minute," Belin said. His fellow firefighters rushed to his side, helping to get him awake and to the ambulance immediately.

According to the Rusk County Office of Emergency Management, fires are beginning to kick up again due to dry conditions and increasing winds. Laneville Fire Department, Mount Enterprise Fire Department and Reklaw Fire Department have worked to put out three back-to-back fires on the south end of Rusk County on Monday, the OEM said in a post at around 2:30 p.m. "With the wind and low relative humidity, this is not a time to burn. Please, NO burning," officials posted on social media. There is not an official burn ban in Rusk County at this time. No counties in East Texas are under a burn ban, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. However, as always, caution should be used and conditions considered before burning.

San Antonio firefighters had to scramble to keep a fire in an alleyway from spreading to nearby homes early Tuesday morning. The fire was called in around 4:30 a.m. in the 200 block of West Mistletoe Avenue, found just north of downtown near West Woodlawn Avenue. Firefighters said the fire burned through a couple of unattached buildings, one garage and one shed. Fire officials say both were presently being used for storage. The fire was knocked down quickly and without incident. The cause of the fire is not currently known. Investigators say they are not sure which property the damaged buildings belong to. No other buildings were damaged, although there were homes and an apartment building close by, firefighters said. According to the San Antonio Fire Department website, as many as eight units answered the call.

A retired ambulance has found a second life after Corpus Christi Fire Department donated it to the Texas State Aquarium in support of their wildlife rescue efforts. The ambulance will be renovated by the aquarium, and officials said it will allow their rescue program to transport sick or stranded wildlife more safely. "Something that we're not able to use anymore in our department is very much useful to another city or a smaller community, or in this case, the Texas State Aquarium," said mayor Paulette Guajardo. "And so it is wonderful to be able to share an asset that we have already used, and it being able to be useful to another organization or community." The renovated ambulance will become the aquarium's official wildlife emergency response vehicle, and will be branded it with its logo and colors.

After keeping fire crews busy for nearly 14 hours, an industrial park fire in Sauget that filled the air with smoke is finally out. Fire crews cleared the scene just before 6:00 a.m. at the Eagle Industrial Park on Mississippi Avenue in Sauget. The Sauget Fire Chief, Roger Thornton, said some crews may return throughout the day to check on a few small hot spots. This all comes after the intense fire burned for quite a long time, with smoke billowing from the scene for hours. Thornton also said that the fire happened at a storage facility inside the Eagle Industrial Park. It's a 39-acre industrial park that occupies the former property of the Big River Zinc Corporation. The area has now been converted to a full-service trans-loading operation. Chief Thornton told us his crews got the first call for the fire about 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. It quickly went to a second alarm, with crews from Cahokia Heights responding as well.

VIDEO: The Red Sox paid tribute to three fallen Baltimore firefighters during a baseball game in Boston on Monday. The team flashed pictures of Lieutenant Paul Butrim, Firefighter Paramedic Kenneth Lacayo and Lieutenant Kelsey Sadler on the Fenway Park jumbotron during a break in the game. Lieutenant Butrim was a lifelong Red Sox fan. According to a Tweet from the Baltimore Firefighters Union IAFF Local 734, Boston firefighters also hosted Baltimore firefighters for the day. Butrim, Lacayo and Sadler died while battling a vacant rowhome fire on Stricker Street last January. The families of the firefighters called for action on vacant homes from Baltimore City Council in July. They asked city leaders to reduce the number of vacant homes because of the dangers posed to first responders who show up there.

PHOTOS: John Moon stands on the 2000 block of Centre Avenue in Pittsburgh's Hill District. He's in front of a building that houses the Hill District Federal Credit Union, but he points to a plaque affixed to the stone façade commemorating the Freedom House ambulance service, widely acknowledged as the first paramedic program in the United States. A half-century ago, Moon was a Freedom House paramedic, and he remains fiercely proud of it: The service, staffed overwhelmingly by Black men from the neighborhood, revolutionized emergency street medicine on the same blocks where many were underemployed, or even believed to be "unemployable." "We were considered the least likely to succeed by society's standards," said Moon, who was 22 and a hospital orderly when he started training to join Freedom House.

VIDEO: Jason Aldean remembers hearing a popping noise, and thinking it was an equipment malfunction. "When I turned around," he says, "my bass player was just looking at me like a deer in the headlights. And my security guy was on stage at that point, telling me to get down, waving me off the stage." Aldean will never forget what happened the night of Oct. 1, 2017, when a relentless gunman turned the celebratory Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas into a maelstrom of unimaginable horror. And he shares his vivid memories in detail for the first time in 11 Minutes, a four-part documentary — set to premiere Tuesday, Sept. 27 on Paramount + — that takes viewers inside the heart-stopping stories of terror and survival during the worst mass shooting incident in U.S. history.
