| Frisco pool supply business catches fire, residents asked to shelter in place VIDEO: Frisco residents were asked to shelter in place after a pool supply business caught fire in an industrial park off the Dallas North Tollway, officials said. Crews at 8:30 a.m. were still responding to the fire, which was reported in the 10500 block of John W. Elliott Drive, near Eldorado Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway. The city of Frisco asked residents in the area bordered by Research Road to the north, Page Street to the south, the railroad tracks to the east and the Dallas North Tollway to the west, to shelter in place. By 9:18 a.m. the shelter in place was lifted, the city said. The city also confirmed that the Frisco Fire Department was working a chemical fire. Video from a viewer captured while traveling down All Stars Ave near the site of the fire shows heavy flames and smoke coming from a building. WFAA-TV ABC 8 DALLAS Woman in custody after shots fired at Fort Worth firefighters A woman is in custody after shots were fired at Fort Worth firefighters responding to a call for medical help Tuesday. Fort Worth police officer Tracy Carter said just before 2 p.m. officers were called to the 2700 block of Brea Canyon Rd. in west Fort Worth by a woman in her 70s who said she had been on the floor for five days and was in need of medical help. As MedStar and Fort Worth firefighters arrived at the home, a second call from the woman said that shots would be fired at anyone who came to the house, Carter said. Those responders approaching the house said gunshots were heard. Police and SWAT responded to the scene. Carter said police have been called to the address before and they believed the woman was in the house alone. Fort Worth PD said no responders were injured. KTVT-TV CBS 11 FORT WORTH Amarillo Fire Department: No hazardous leak at Cacique Cheese The Amarillo Fire Department says there was no hazardous material leak at Cacique Cheese Tuesday afternoon. Around 1:50 p.m., the Amarillo Office of Emergency Management posted the fire department was at the building for a hazardous material leak. Around 3:00 p.m., the Amarillo Fire Department officials clarified the incident. Officials say a mechanical company and the city were out at the facility. One of the workers of the mechanical facility was in wastewater and removed his mask briefly. The worker passed out for a short amount of time. This is the second time crews have responded to the Cacique Cheese building for a hazardous leak report. In August, a chlorine leak caused an evacuation of the building. | VIDEO: Fire erupts at school construction site in Maryland PHOTOS: A two-alarm fire broke out at the construction site of Joann Leleck Elementary School at Broad Acres, located on Beacon Road near Northampton Drive, late Tuesday evening, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services officials. Firefighters responded to the scene, finding smoke billowing from the building under construction. "Fire was venting from the roof, and exterior operations were initiated," said Pete Piringer, Public Information Officer for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services. Due to the difficult access to the building, aerial tower operations were employed to contain the flames. Units from multiple Montgomery and Prince George's County stations responded to the fire. There are no reports of injuries so far, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. WTTG-TV FOX 5 WASHINGTON, D.C. With more lithium-ion batteries comes more fire risk; San Diego now has an expert for that Rob Rezende was heading home from a hazmat conference in Sacramento when people started texting him about a lithium-ion battery fire in Escondido. Before his plane took off, he watched drone footage on his phone showing smoke and flames erupting from a container at the SDG&E energy storage facility on Sept. 5. This was the second battery storage facility fire in San Diego County since Rezende became the region's alternative energy emergency response coordinator in April. It is a role carved out especially for him as fires involving lithium-ion batteries grow more common, locally and elsewhere. Rezende, a battalion chief with San Diego Fire-Rescue and a 17-year department veteran, is a nationally recognized expert in lithium-ion battery fires. In his new role, other agencies like Escondido can call on him to look at their fire response.
