| | Question of the Week Last week at the Clio Cloud Conference in New Orleans, Preet Bharara, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, gave a keynote speech sharing five pieces of advice for success in law. What was Bharara's advice? First, don't be a jerk. He quoted Dwight D. Eisenhower: "You don't lead by hitting people over the head--that's assault, not leadership." And act with integrity--which must be continuously emphasized. Spouses say "I love you" for the duration of the relationship, not just at the wedding. So this week--assuming you're at the point when you consider yourself a good lawyer--tell us: What advice do you have for a winning legal career? Answer in the comments. Read the answers to last week's question: How long did it take for you to feel like you were a good lawyer? Featured answer: Posted by Luis : "Twenty-seven years and still learning. I began as a legal aid attorney for 11 years. As to associates billing per hour right away: No." |
