On behalf of the team at ACM, publisher of your favourite local news site and newspaper,
As our families, towns, cities and nation confront the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, your continuing support is helping our local journalists, photographers and editors bring you the important updates and analysis that keep our communities informed and connected.
It is a rapidly changing situation and we want to make sure the local regions we serve are as well-informed as possible.
That’s why our COVID-19 news articles relating to public health and safety are free for anyone to access. However, we depend on subscription revenue to support our journalism. This is work that would not be possible without you.
And I’m happy to report that new readers are responding to our request to support our journalism and are joining you as subscribers.
At a time when international digital platforms like Google and Facebook present a deluge of information from unknown sources (while also consuming the advertising dollars that might otherwise help pay for quality Australian journalism), you are supporting local news from trusted local sources.
You are helping us tell the stories that no one else will tell about the people and places that make where we love to live our home.
Again, we thank you.
Working from home? We think you might enjoy this...
Like a lot of businesses, ACM has been changing the way many of our people work. At the beginning of last week we asked staff who can do so to work from home and to adopt social distancing in their interactions as they go about their jobs. We believe these types of measures will help keep our people safe so we can continue to meet the needs of our audiences and advertising partners.
To help some of us adjust to this new reality, Bundaberg-based journalist Ashley Walmsley agreed to provide his ACM colleagues with a brief video guide to working away from the office.
It's fair to say that Ashley, the editor of our monthly horticultural trade publication Good Fruit & Vegetables, tackled the task with relish. And comedic panache.
We loved his work so much we’re sharing it with you here. Enjoy.
