| | Team Adam was started by NCMEC 20 years ago to provide rapid, on-site assistance to law enforcement (LE) agencies and families in critical cases of missing children. NCMEC can dispatch Team Adam consultants at no cost to the LE agency. Team Adam is named after 6-year-old Adam Walsh, the abducted and murdered son of NCMEC co-founders John and Reve′ Walsh. It was created as a resource to help LE and police departments who, thankfully, have not had a missing child in their jurisdiction. LE agencies could benefit from the expertise and experience of skilled professionals that can aid them in the search and recovery of the missing child. Team Adam Consultants (TACs) are retired LE professionals with years of specialized training and experience at the federal, state and local levels. Over the last 20 years, TACs – who live all across the country – have been deployed 1,289 times to help search for 1,478 missing children in all 50 states. “Our program taps into one of the most underutilized resources in law enforcement – retired, experienced investigators,” said Rich Leonard, who oversees Team Adam and has 32 years of law enforcement experience. “Team ADAM professionals have decades of knowledge investigating cases of missing and abducted children. If a police department could use our help, all they have to do is call and Team ADAM can be on the next plane.” Read the full story online to learn more about Team Adam. |
