Dear Friend: With less than three months left to go, and Kamala Harris joining Joe Biden on the ticket, we’re set for the final stages of the 2020 presidential campaign. But is the Trump team ready? The New Republic’s Alex Shephard is skeptical: “Despite acres of lead time, Trump and the Republican National Committee came up with a muddled message. Harris, in their version, is too tough on crime ... too soft on crime … and a cynical careerist and a doctrinaire Marxist” all at once. Shephard found “there was more focus” on Fox News. “The network certainly takes cues from the president, but more often the flow of information works the other way around, with hosts trying to lead Trump where they want him to go.” Tucker Carlson thinks, “Harris would give Covid-19 vaccines to people of color first.” And Jeanine Pirro has “a sense that something’s going to happen before the election, and he’s not even going to be on the ticket….” It’s not news that Fox News supports Trump and the GOP or that mainstream media is afraid to make the connection. Only independent media can deliver the unfiltered truth without fear of stockholder or advertiser reprisal. The Trump team appears to have a secret plan and just the man who can carry it out–Jared Kushner. “Why is Trump’s son-in-law meeting with ‘presidential candidate’ Kanye West instead of saving America from the coronavirus?” Weinstein reports: If one could bracket out the immediately obvious evils of manipulating a man in a mental health crisis for maximum political gain, using Kanye to halfheartedly rig an election would be the perfect Kushner tasking. He has grand ideas about his abilities, as we’ve seen. But this is probably closest to his sweet spot: chumming with celebrities and concocting the stupidest scheme imaginable to keep his extended family’s grift going just a bit longer. Weinstein warns that “the Kushners and Trumps have won unlikely victories before in spite of their self-sabotaging greed and stupidity.” As he discussed this article with his TNR editor, they agreed: “It would be perfectly dystopian if 2020 ended with Trump as president thanks to Kanye.” With the election heating up, now’s the time to join Alex Shephard, Adam Weinstein, and the best investigative reporters, opinion writers, and cultural critics in America.
