Across the United States and around the world, clergy and congregational leaders have adapted worship services to online platforms in response to the social distancing requirements made necessary by COVID-19. Now, as we approach the holiest days of the Christian year, what should preachers be thinking about when preaching Easter online? Christine Parton Burkett, lecturing fellow of speech at Duke Divinity School in Durham, NC, and Peter Wallace, executive producer and host of Day1 and the president of the Alliance for Christian Media in Atlanta, GA, join Alban Managing Director Nathan Kirkpatrick for a conversation about preaching Easter virtually. The conversation spans everything from authenticity in preaching online to responding pastorally to "Zoom-bombers." Watch the conversation » |

| THEOLOGY IN THE TIME OF COVID-19 |
The Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes, one of Alban's partner organizations, hosted a webinar about the theological questions raised by COVID-19 and by the church's response to the pandemic. This webinar focuses on questions including: What light can the primary language of our faith shed on the present moment? How can we consider issues of providence, of being embodied, of vulnerability, sin, hope and hopelessness, idolatry, exile, and loving our neighbor in the face of a pandemic? What does our confession "Jesus Christ is Lord" mean here, and now? Joining in conversation is a panel of respected theologians, drawn from across the Episcopal Church and the Church of England, will consider these and other questions, in brief theological reflections on COVID-19 and social distancing. While the conversation includes only Anglican theologians, the questions it explores are, of course, broadly applicable. Watch the webinar here » |
