The BJ and Harold Show hits big time

Former Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano once said every man in America thinks he can work a grill and coach football.

A lot of guys who follow LSU football will feel vindicated about the latter statement when it comes to BJ Ojulari and Harold Perkins trying to grill up some tasty tackles for loss on Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and running back Jahmyr Gibbs in Saturday night's showdown game in Tiger Stadium.

LSU's coaches were adverse to playing the freshman Perkins in some circumstances until recently. But this week, LSU coach Brian Kelly talked about the importance of finding ways to get Ojulari and Perkins, arguably the Tigers' two best defenders, on the field at the same time.

A lot of purple and gold armchair quarterbacks out there will be relieved at that revelation.

And while you're at it, you want cheese on that burger, coach?

As you read this, we're now just over two days away from kickoff between the Tigers, No. 10 in the inaugural CFP rankings, and No. 6 Alabama. Game time is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN in what hopefully won't be a rainy Tiger Stadium.

The anticipation and excitement for the game is picking up, and we've got a ton of LSU content to send your way. So, without further delay ...

  • Paul Finebaum said recently he believes Alabama coach Nick Saban still carries a torch for LSU. But the fire to win trumps any sentimentality Saban may have for the place where he first made it big as a coach.
  • Like a cold engine on a chilly morning, the Tigers have been notorious for getting off to slow starts this season. Can a change in practice plans help LSU get hotter quicker?
  • We've got your latest episode of Kelly updating offensive lineman Garrett Dellinger's health right here.
  • Speaking of slow rollouts, it took until Alabama's last game for former LSU star cornerback Eli Ricks to finally start. But now he's expected to play a big role in Bama's defense.
  • Here's every word Nick Saban had to say about LSU at his weekly news conference. Let the forensic search for bulletin board material begin.
  • We asked for your Alabama jokes and memes. Here's what we got. Don't blame us.
  • Forward KJ Williams, who followed new LSU basketball coach Matt McMahon from Murray State, is a preseason All-SEC selection.

That's all for now, folks. We'll have a lot more for you as we get closer to the game. Until then, keep drawing up those plays and send me a burger from your grill, medium well.
