Archiware News, March 2019 No Images? Click here Here we are in March! This time, we show you how to quickly move your Archive into the Cloud, how to use our Knowledge Base including important info on macOS 10.14 Mojave, invite you to the next session of Webinar Wednesday, and offer you the chance to be among the first people to beta test the next Archiware Pure. P5 and Cloud Import ServicesAs a manufacturer of Archive software, moving large amounts of data into the cloud is a requirement we came across more and more recently. A cloud Archive has undeniable advantages and is therefore becoming a more popular choice. But the initial move to the cloud poses a challenge: How to transfer Tera(or even Peta)bytes of data to the cloud initially, without straining the internet connection for months? Most cloud providers offer import services to simplify this process: They will send you physical, portable storage (e.g. a NAS device) which you load the data onto. The device is then returned and the data is imported onsite. To give our customers a smooth transfer of their Archive into the cloud, we have launched a cloud import functionality in P5 version 5.6. Find the Important Resources: The Knowledge BaseTo help our resellers and customers, Archiware offers a number of helpful tools. Over time, we will present those to you in our newsletter, starting today with the Archiware Knowledge Base. The Knowledge Base is maintained by our Support team and contains numerous articles on technical topics. Many of those resulted from tickets, but they are also often written to help with common problems. So if you are ever faced with a problem in your P5 installation, a first step to getting help is to search the Knowledge Base. If after that you need further assistance, owners of installations with a current Software Maintenance and Support agreement are welcome to submit a ticket and our Support team will be on hand to assist you. A current example: In the latest release of macOS, 10.14 Mojave, Apple have tightened security measures with regards to private files. These new measures prevent backup software (except Apple's own Time Machine) from accessing files unless explicitly permitted to do so by the user. In a recent Knowledge Base post, we explain how to set these permissions and the changes we will be making in order for P5 to be able to back up private files. So if you are running P5 on macOS 10.14 Mojave or planning to do so, please read these instructions carefully. It's almost that time again! Our next Webinar Wednesday is coming up, and this time we are focussing on P5 and the Cloud. Our presenter David Fox is joined by Whit Jackson, Vice President Media & Entertainment at Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage, and they will be discussing the best strategies for Cloud Backup and Archive.
