Datacenter Reliability and Power Quality Measurements (PQM)


 

 

From an IT perspective, datacenters are built to be redundant, failsafe, and bullet-proof. For the datacenter, the most frequently cited metric is uptime. But a second, and arguably even more important metric, is the cost of downtime. When a datacenter goes down, their customers go down with them, making the impact of an outage costly and the damage severe.

 

It is clear that while datacenters are becoming highly sophisticated in their ability to drive reliability in their computer, networks, and software systems, we are lacking on the power side of the equation – and more specifically, understanding power quality and harmonics.
