Dear subscribers,
We're returned from Fall Break here on campus with lots of coverage for you. We have stories from Tim Kaine's Detroit visit and Regent Denise Illitch's reelection bid. Erin Finn yet again lead Michigan cross country to a third place finish at Pre Nationals. And in football news, the stakes are getting bigger for the upcoming Michigan-Ohio State game, and in our SportsWednesday Column, Jack LaFontaine's 28-save performance helped win the game for Michigan hockey on Saturday and showed the team what it needs moving forward.
All the best,
The Michigan Daily
This article is part of a Michigan Daily series profiling the four candidates seeking a seat on the Board of Regents this November at the University of Michigan.
A member of the University of Michiganâs Board of Regents for the past eight years, Regent Denise Ilitch (D) is running for her second term this November.
Current Regent Laurence Deitch (D), Ron Weiser (R), former chairman of the Michigan Republican Party and Carl Meyers (R), a financial advisor in Dearborn, are also on the ballot as major party candidates.
Michigan did not play its best hockey against the Bulldogs, and without a big game from Jack LaFontaine, it likely would have lost.
Pulling away from the field halfway through the race, Erin Finn cruised to victory with a time of 19:44.70 for the 6,000-meter race.
The only test against a ranked opponent for either Ohio State or Michigan until the teams face off is the Buckeyesâ home date with No. 8 Nebraska.
