According to an email sent to students from University President Mark Schlissel on Wednesday, University Provost Martin Philbert was placed on administrative leave following multiple allegations of sexual assault.
The announcement comes on the heels of various University officials facing scrutiny for allegations of sexual assault in the past few years.

In commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, activist Angela Davis also gave a keynote speech this past Monday on the MLK Jr. symposium theme, âThe (Mis)Education of the U.S.â
The lecture was one of many events dedicated to MLK this past Monday. Susan Rice, former United Nations Ambassador and former National Security Advisor, also spoke Monday morning at Annenberg Auditorium.
Following its official re-opening this week, the College of Literature, Science and the Arts hosted a âHomewarmingâ party to celebrate its new building additions, including a new second floor and additional, updated study spaces.
Roughly 1,200 students were in attendance for the event, which included Reggie the Campus Corgi, free food and Michigan gear for its attendees.
Following a recent change that allows nursing students to select their own clinical shift dates instead of being assigned them, students have begun to sell and buy shifts for as much as $400 to be able to work their preferred hours or locations.
Amid studentsâ frustrations, Bonnie Hagerty, associate dean for undergraduate studies at the School of Nursing, notified students that trading shifts may result in disciplinary action.
Despite a hot start and the return of junior forward Isaiah Livers, who was later injured, Michigan Menâs Basketball lost to Illinois in a closely contested match this Saturday, 64-62.
In their fourth straight loss, Michigan struggled to keep up with Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu, who had 27 points on the day.

Do you think the University offers adequate mental health resources for students on campus?
Definitely not. You can tell they're trying, but face a significant lack of resources (space, people, time, etc.). From my two sessions that I waited almost a month for, the therapist constantly steered me away from one-on-one meetings and toward group sessions that were already full. Everything had an insane waitlist and I was recommended to reach out to Eastern Michigan University for their services. A university as significant as ours needs to step up their game to meet modern expectations for mental health care.

What is a larger issue than the available services on campus is combating the stigma of mental illness. The University could have the best mental health services in the world, but who would know? In my honest opinion, reducing the stigma of mental illness is of more importance, that way people will actively seek out services if the need arises.
