During the University Board of Regents meeting this Thursday, Regent Mark Bernstein (D) announced that the board would be looking into the University’s policy on investments in fossil fuel companies.

In addition, they announced that no new investments into fossil fuel companies would be made during this time.

Student-led petition calls for expansion of ASL program

After running into a waitlist of more than 100 students for RCASL 100, a prerequisite American Sign Language course at the University, LSA freshman Hannah Shipley created a petition to increase resources for the language.

The petition calls for expansion of the course, faculty and resources for the ASL program.

University Law Students protest Paul, Weiss recruiting event in support of #DropExxon campaign

University of Michigan Law students organized at Pizza House this Wednesday to protest an exclusive recruiting event for renowned international law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

The protest followed in the footsteps of Harvard University, Yale University and New York University law students who hope their efforts will pressure Paul, Weiss to drop the multinational oil and gas corporation, ExxonMobil, as one of their clients.

CSG President Ben Gerstein apologizes for 2017 comments on Palestine

Multicultural organizations at the University called for Ben Gerstein, president of Central Student Government and Public Policy junior, to apologize for remarks he made in a video and article about Palestine while in high school.

After a social media statement made by Students Allied for Freedom and Equality demanding public apologies from both Gerstein and CSG, Gerstein issued a statement on his personal Facebook page Wednesday afternoon apologizing for any harm caused and saying he no longer holds the views conveyed in the video.

Michigan tops Purdue, 71-63, in fifth straight win

In their fifth straight win, Michigan men’s basketball beat Purdue on the road, 71-63.

Spurred by junior forward Isaiah Livers’s return from an ankle injury, the Wolverine’s won on the road, marking their longest winning streak since the beginning of the season with seven straight victories.
