In the final days leading up to Michigan Stateâs first appearance in Ann Arbor since the infamous botched punt, the No. 7 Michigan football team spoke to the media and discussed the rivalry, the offense and how fifth-year senior John OâKorn has adjusted as the new starting quarterback.
Dear subscribers,
Today, we take a look at the Michigan football team as they gear up for Saturday's match against Michigan State. We also take a look at junior forward Cooper Marody on the Michigan hockey team, who is looking forward to his first full collegiate season. Tuesday morning, University president Mark Schlissel discussed University initiatives at his annual Leadership Breakfast. The Statement investigates one student's experience being president of his fraternity as a gay man, while a Personal Statement explores hiking.
All the best,

Reflecting back on last yearâs adversities, Marody couldnât be more ready to move on and begin what he hopes to be his first complete season on the Wolverine roster.
At his annual Leadership Breakfast Tuesday morning, University President Mark Schlissel outlined his goals for the University of Michigan and significant achievements of faculty over the last year to an audience of approximately 200 in the Ross School of Business.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
In his introductory remarks, University Provost Martin Philbert said he had utilized the mentorship of many members of the University's administration and commended the president's efforts to address social and racial tensions on campus.
Public Policy junior Daniel Greene remembers one of the first fraternity rush events he attended as a freshman.
âI walk into the house, and the first thing I hear, is âthatâs so gay,ââ Greene said. âSome brother is repeating âthatâs so gay.â Thatâs literally the first thing after I checked in I heard.â
The phrase was thrown around so many times Greene was convinced someone in the fraternity spread word of his sexuality.
âSo I thought, âOK, maybe not the house for me,ââ he recalled.
The first mountain I climbed in Wyoming wasnât even really a mountain. Mt. Ann is located directly behind Camp Davis, the Rocky Mountain Field Station owned and operated by the University of Michigan where students of all majors can take earth, environmental, American culture and ecology classes during the summer â so itâs a typical first hike for new students.
