Going the distance: Maryland restaurant gets creative In light of social distancing and public health risks, people are less eager to dine and socialize at restaurants — outdoor patios or not. But one restaurateur from Ocean City had the bright idea of using custom tables that make social distancing easy and fun. After consulting with an event planning company, Shawn Harman debuted brand new “bumper tables” at his Fish Tales seafood restaurant. These tables look more like big rubber tires with a flat top, and each is designed with a radius of 6 feet, so they’re perfect for social distancing. Diners simply step into the hole in the center, and they’re free to hang around, eat and socialize to their heart’s content. As good of an idea as this is, though, we can’t help but worry that guests will start to bump each other on purpose and knock themselves off the pier. Maybe that can be another attraction for guests at Fish Tales! p> Just wait, this kind of thing will pick up in popularity across the world. It’s not just for dogs anymore. Tap or click here to see the cute rubber bumper that helps a blind dog navigate his home. → |
