Plus: Are you a digital hoarder?
| | The day Alex's life changed forever |
|
In early January last year, Alex Moroianu had her last normal day. Life was pretty good. She was working full-time as a management consultant in Perth, while finishing off a research paper based on her masters in astrophysics. She went out that night with her boyfriend and some friends, dancing until 3am. But the next day she could barely walk, wracked with pain and nausea. It wasn't just a hangover. "From that day, it just never really stopped. It got worse and worse, and we couldn't figure out why." The otherwise healthy 23-year-old was in severe heart failure. Read Tegan Taylor's fascinating story from The Health Report about the new heart transplant technology that saved Alex's life. Then, dive into the world of digital hoarding. From unread emails to saved documents, many of us are holding on tight to digital assets we don't need and may never have read. What's behind the trend? Future Tense investigated. Finally, we're thrilled to congratulate some of RN's most beloved presenters on some well-deserved accolades. Dr Norman Swan has been awarded an Order of Australia for his service as a science and health commentator, and a trusted voice throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Patricia Karvelas has been appointed as an honorary professor with RMIT's School of Media and Communication, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to journalism education. Congratulations, Norman and Patricia! Until next time, Anna Levy, deputy digital editor Enjoy getting ABC RN in your inbox? Invite your friends to sign up too! |
