The Diversity of Biden’s Cabinet , the Success of HBCUs, and More

Joe Biden has said that he wants a cabinet that looks like America. Kathryn Dunn Tenpas evaluates the diversity of the president-elect’s incoming cabinet on race, gender, and age, and compares the diversity of these picks to cabinets of previous presidents.

Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) have been supplying leaders to America for much of their history. 73 years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. graduated from Morehouse College, Dick Startz highlights how HBCUs continue to provide an outsized contribution to American higher education despite being under-resourced compared to other universities.

“White supremacist terrorism has long proven a major threat, but it is likely to see significant changes with a new president in the White House and the end of the COVID-19 crisis in sight. Although U.S. and allied policy will have a considerable impact on the threat white supremacists pose, much will depend on events beyond those governments’ control,” writes Daniel Byman.
