Defendant pleads guilty in asphyxiation death
By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor DUCT WORK: Most murders are committed with a gun or knife, sometimes another conventional weapon. But duct tape? A Harvey man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday in the killing of a Terrytown man whose entire head and upper body were wrapped in duct tape, asphyxiating him. 'BULLY TACTICS:' Armed with a litany of grievances, St. Tammany Parish School Board member Shelta Richardson up and quit Wednesday, saying, "In all my experience I've never seen one school district demonstrate more disrespect and poor treatment towards our teachers, our bus drivers and special education students and their parents. The bully tactics are paramount. Everything is staged from the election of School Board officials to the meetings before meetings." SAINTS STUMBLE AGAIN: Saints quarterback Taysom Hill, in his first start of the season, tossed four interceptions as the team lost 27-17 to the Cowboys on Thursday night. Now 5-7, the path to the playoffs is becoming more and more narrow for Sean Payton's squad. Thanks for starting your day with us. Check for the latest news all day on NOLA.com. D.B. |
