Dear Eagles around the globe, Itâs been a while since we sent you the last edition of our little newsletter â time for us to bring you up to date on what has happened in and around Frankfurt. After going down to RB Leipzig on the last matchday of the first half of the running Bundesliga season, the Eagles sacked in three points against both FC Schalke 04 and fellow Hessian club SV Darmstadt 98. Then, Eintrachtâs winning streak came to an unfortunate end. Four Bundesliga defeats in a row saw the Eagles lose ground in their quest for reaching a spot in the table that enables them to participate in a European competition next season. We spare you the details. If you really want to reread how SGE went down several times, you can go to http://spieledb.eintracht.de/schedule, where you will find all match reports of the running campaign. Are there any good news? Yes. Eintracht have beaten second league club Arminia Bielefeld in a DFB Cup quarter finals game. If the Eagles win the semi-final encounter v Borussia Mönchengladbach in Borussia Park, they will participate in the final in Berlin against either title holders FC Bayern München or last yearâs finalists, Borussia Dortmund. In addition (and this is by far the most important message), Marco Russ has beaten cancer. Eintrachtâs defender celebrated his much applauded comeback in the second half of the match v Arminia Bielefeld. For lack of a better word, it is fantastic to see you back in action, Marco! We are so happy that you are doing fine. Today, on Saturday, 11 March 2017, the Eagles will face German champions FC Bayern München in a Bundesliga matchday 24 encounter. The kick-off will take place at 15.30 CET in Munichâs Allianz Arena. Our newsletter contains information on this match and other news you might be interested in. Enjoy the read. As always, keep on following Frankfurt â over land and sea! Sincerely yours, The English Eintracht Internet Team
