| Beautiful Art Deco figurines at Auction on May 27, 2020 As the second oldest porcelain manufacturer in Europe, the Viennese porcelain manufacturer Augarten, founded in 1718, can look back on a long tradition. In the beginning, artistically demanding figures and services were created. In this way the company, which at that time was based in the 9th district, contributed significantly to the fact that Viennese porcelain was in great demand at the courts of Europe. The manufactory was temporarily closed at the end of the 19th century. The reason for this was the pressure of industrialization. Around 60 years later, the factory was successfully reopened at its new location in Augarten Palace in 1923. Augarten now broke new ground and in the 1920s and 30s mainly invited artists from the Wiener Werkstätte. Josef Hoffmann, Ida Schwetz-Lehmann, Michael Powolny, Ena Rottenberg and Vally Wieselthier gave new artistic impulses and created over 200 new designs during this time. The diverse repertoire of Augarten's world of figurines ranges from lovingly designed everyday roles such as the 'fisher', the 'hunter with a dog' or the 'vegetable seller' to the flirtatious depictions of the Austrian dancer and actress Tilly Losch. The figurative implementation of her prime roles as the princess tea blossom from 'Schlagobers' or her title role in 'Das lockende Phantom' became popular collector's items and are still among the 'little icons' of the Viennese porcelain manufacturer. |

| Die Art Déco Figurinen in unserer Auktion am 27. Mai 2020 Die Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten, gegründet 1718, blickt als zweitälteste Porzellanmanufaktur Europas auf eine lange Tradition und zurück. In der Anfangszeit entstand künstlerisch anspruchsvolle Figuren und Service. Damit trug die damals im 9. Bezirk ansässige Firma wesentlich dazu bei, dass Wiener Porzellan an den Höfen Europas besonders gefragt war. Zu einer vorübergehenden Schließung der Manufaktur kam es Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Grund war der Druck der Großindustrie. Rund 60 Jahre später kam es 1923 zur erfolgreichen Wiedereröffnung am neuen Standort in Schloss Augarten. Die Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten bewahrte die kaiserliche Tradition, ging nun aber auch neue Wege und lud in den 1920er und 30er Jahren Künstler der Wiener Werkstätte ein. Josef Hoffmann, Ida Schwetz-Lehmann, Michael Powolny, Ena Rottenberg oder Wally Wieselthier gaben neue Impulse und lieferten in diesen Jahrzehnten über 200 Entwürfe für Figuren, dekorative Objekte und Service. Das vielseitige Repertoire von Augartens Figurenwelt reicht von liebevoll gestalteten Alltagsrollen, wie der 'Fischerin', der 'Jägerin mit Hund' oder der 'Gemüseverkäuferin', bis hin zu den koketten Darstellungen der österreichischen Tänzerin und Schauspielerin Tilly Losch. Die figürliche Umsetzung ihrer Paraderollen als Prinzessin Teeblüte aus 'Schlagobers' oder ihrer Titelrolle in 'Das lockende Phantom' wurden zu beliebten Sammlerstücken und gehören noch heute zu den 'kleinen Ikonen' der Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur. |
