Good evening

From midnight tomorrow we start to take the first tentative steps back to normal life.

On Monday, we can gradually start to meet up with people we have missed again and even invite them into our gardens.

For those desperate to get active again after months cooped up indoors, organised sport and outdoor sports, like golf and tennis, will be allowed.

And given that the clocks go forward at 2am tomorrow, meaning lighter nights, the combination of all these things might just be the tonic we need to make us feel a little more optimistic about life.

After all, we now have nearly 30million people vaccinated, offering them a decent level of protection from the worst effects of Covid and provided we don't see a huge surge in case numbers over the next two weeks, by April 12 we will be able to move further away from home and enjoy a drink in a beer garden.

It may not seem like much, but if the past year has taught us anything, it is to be grateful for the simple things in life. We don’t really need lots of ‘stuff’, we need our family, friends and freedom.
