It seems the LSU women's basketball team can't go into postseason play without some uncertainty about its personnel. In 2022, Kim Mulkey's first season, point guard Alexis Morris suffered a late-season MCL sprain, sat out the SEC Tournament and scored a total of 11 points in the Tigers' two NCAA Tournament games. Last year, shooting guard Mikaylah Williams was dealing with plantar fasciitis and sat out the season finale against Kentucky and was limited in the SEC Tournament. This year, guard Flau'jae Johnson, the Tigers' leading scorer, sat out Sunday's regular-season finale loss to Ole Miss and has been shelved by Mulkey for the SEC Tournament with shin inflammation. Johnson should be fine with three weeks rest: the earliest LSU would open NCAA Tournament play is March 21. But her injury certainly dampens the Tigers' hopes of winning the SEC Tournament and puts their NCAA Tournament seed, currently projected at No. 2, in jeopardy. The Tigers open SEC Tournament play about 7:30 p.m. Friday against Alabama (which beat LSU last Thursday) or the first-round Florida-Auburn winner. Meanwhile, the LSU baseball team is back at The Box for five games this week after a successful 4-0 trip to the Dallas area. The wins put LSU's record at 11-1 and propelled the Tigers to No. 1 in this week's D1Baseball.com poll.
