What's making news in New Orleans?
By Chad Calder | Staff writer ELECTION SHINANIGANS: The Dec. 11 election is only a few days away, and you know what that means. It's trashy mailer time. Matt Sledge has the story of a mysterious, a misogynistic campaign flyer that has fingers pointing in the race for Orleans Parish Sheriff. And as we reported over the weekend, the back-and-forth over the proposed casino development near Slidell has included questionable claims as well. FATAL ARGUMENT: One of the things about a city saturated with firearms is that arguments can quickly end in serious injury or death. This weekend saw the latest example, when an dispute between a valet and a customer over a parking space at a downtown hotel turned fatal. Ramon Vargas has the latest. SAINTSATIONS NO MORE: The New Orleans Saints have chosen their new name for the squad of dancers, cheerleaders and stunters formerly known as the Saintsations. The new name is the culmination of some changes that have been in the works in recent years, and you can read about it here. Meanwhile, the team that could use a little cheering up right now can consider this: they're not technically out of the playoff's yet. Thanks for starting your day with us. CC |
