What's making news in New Orleans?
| By Chad Calder | Staff writer NOT SO FAST: The Louisiana Supreme Court has changed its rules to make sure judges found to be abusing their office can't escape fines by quitting right before the hammer falls. Some suspended judges have used that tactic before, and the change is designed to prevent taxpayers from footing the bill for investigations that root out judicial wrongdoing. MEET THE NEW BOSS: New Orleans native Colette Hirstius has taken over the top job at Shell Oil's local operations, where she oversees about 1,000 employees and about 476,000 barrels of oil production a day in the Gulf of Mexico. Tony MacAuley has a look at of Hirstius' role at the Anglo-Dutch energy company. CALLING IT: Hammered by wave after wave of COVID-19 cases, some nurses in Louisiana are deciding it's time for a change, either putting their training to use in other medical settings or leaving altogether. Emily Woodruff has some of their stories. INFO WARS: Millions of dollars are being spent to sway the minds of voters on the proposed $325 million Camellia Bay Casino and hotel complex near Slidell, and — brace yourselves — there's a chance some of the information out there may not be on the up-and-up.
