2017 saw the continued rapid pace of software innovation and developments. We witnessed a dramatic growth in machine learning, with engineers moving into the space. We saw the continued adoption of "cloud native" architectures (including Microservices) as well as growing interest in chaos engineering. Both Java and .NET had an amazing year with tremendous interest in both .NET Core and Java 9 and 10. Away from the tech side, on InfoQ.com and at QCon San Francisco we saw growing demand for our organizational culture and team management content; on the podcast Charles suggests that, against a backdrop of a difficult year for many household names in software, this might be symptomatic of an industry that is starting to think writing software is the easy bit.
