BS 8543:2015 Complaint handling in organizations - Specification

Today’s organizations need a process whereby they can manage complaints efficiently and effectively. This should be done in such a way that the organization, its customers and its complainants all benefit. 

To fulfil this need, a new British Standard has been written by a group of complaint management experts and is the first fully updated standard in this area for some time.

Material efficiency of energy-related products event

What are the impacts of material efficiency on energy-related products? BSI needs your views.
The European Commission are drafting a revised Standardization Request (SR) to support the Ecodesign Directive, promoting increased material efficiency of energy-related products. 
Join us on 2 October 2015 to: 
Develop a greater understanding of what Standardization Requests are and how they impact the development of standards
Hear about the development of the Standardization Request on material efficiency
Have an opportunity to represent the view of your industry to BSI
The products covered by this SR are truly diverse and any product that consumes energy could be affected, thereby raising questions about operational and safety impacts. As the SR itself is unlikely to change further at this point, BSI needs the views of UK stakeholders to inform our vote on the next iteration of this European ballot.

Rockwell metal hardness test method standards have been revised
Two key international standards on how to test the hardness of metallic materials have been revised and are now available to buy.
BS EN ISO 6508-1:2015 Metallic materials. Rockwell hardness test. Test method specifies the method for Rockwell regular and Rockwell superficial hardness tests.
BS EN ISO 6508-2:2015 Metallic materials. Rockwell hardness test. Verification and calibration of testing machines and indenters specifies two methods of verification – direct and indirect – of testing machines for determining Rockwell hardness in accordance with Part 1.
Both standards have been updated and the term ‘hardmetal’ has been replaced with ‘tungsten carbide composite’.

BS 10125:2014 Automotive services - Specification for vehicle damage repair processes

Building on PAS 125, BS 10125:2014 Vehicle Damage Repair identifies comprehensive requirements that, if followed, will ensure repairs to accident-damaged vehicles are carried out at a consistently high level of quality and safety. It integrates the latest in industry good practice, taking into account new technology, materials and safety implications.

A guide to toy safety standard BS EN 71-1
BS EN 71-1 demonstrates to authorities that a product complies with the European Directive. It was revised in 2014 to include mechanical and physical properties of toys to prevent children from choking, trapping their fingers or injuring themselves on a toy. Manufacturers and importers are now obliged to ensure no unsafe toys enter the market.
