Are you a Food and Drink business operating in Fife? If so, Fife Council Economic Development could do with your help! It’s seeking feedback from local businesses in the sector as it tries to find out more about how businesses are moving towards net-zero operations, understand what challenges they are facing, and what support might be helpful.
 
Following COP26 and working in conjunction with the Food4Fife Partnership, Fife Council Economic Development has created a sustainability health check questionnaire,

Update to Close Contact Services Fund

This fund will support businesses in the close contact service sectors which have been affected by the restrictions and guidance introduced from 9th December 2021 to 24th January 2022.

Businesses which own or rent premises with a non-domestic rates (NDR) account and self-employed individuals offering a close contact service are eligible for certain key services.

Applications close on Friday 4th March 2022.

Please note this fund is being delivered exclusively by the Scottish Government, and Business Gateway is not playing a part in the application process.

Proud to Care Campaign Launched

Scotland's health and social care sector is experiencing an urgent crisis when it comes to recruiting and retaining staff.

The Capital City Partnership (CCP) has launched the Proud to Care campaign to shine a spotlight on the meaningful and fulfilling work that staff and volunteers do across the health and social care sector.

The campaign is now taking place across six Local Authorities involved in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal (Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian, Fife and the Scottish Borders)

Exciting New Production Unit Opportunity at Bowhouse

Bowhouse, the Fife centre for food production and development, is on the hunt for three food and drink businesses to join their network of producers in three newly renovated units.

The three units are part of a transformation of the courtyard space at Bowhouse and can be used for small-scale retail and production of local food and drink. New producers will join an existing community of makers transforming local ingredients including a flour mill, brewery and butchery.

New Measures to Help Improve Planning Application Process.

Change to help improve the planning application process and the service received by applicants has been announced by Planning Minister Tom Arthur.

Following a consultation in 2019 that sought views on reviewing the planning performance and fee regime, planning fees will rise from 1st April 2022. Planning fees have an important role in ensuring applicants, rather than the taxpayer, help cover the cost of determining planning applications.

Deal Agreed to Establish Green Freeports

A partnership agreement to establish two Green Freeports in Scotland has been reached between the Scottish and UK governments.

Ministers have agreed that a joint offer set out in a prospectus offers the maximum benefits for the Scottish economy as both governments will be able to deliver tax reliefs and other incentives through a combination of devolved and reserved powers.

British businesses exporting to Europe will now be able to access one-to-one advice via a new phone and online service launched today.

Following extensive engagement with businesses, the Department for International Trade (DIT) is making it easier for exporters and those considering exporting to access the information they need to export to the rest of Europe.

Fife & Tayside Procurement Surgery

Angus, Dundee City, Fife and Perth & Kinross Councils have joined forces to create a series of one-to-one procurement surgeries aimed at supporting local businesses and increasing confidence when tendering with the public sector.

The surgeries will also support suppliers in becoming "tender ready" with the Supplier Development Programme to better understand and respond to the “ask” from local authorities in procurement.
