Dear reader, It’s now more than 13 years since Madeleine McMann disappeared while on holiday in Portugal. Yesterday we heard of the biggest potential breakthrough in the case yet, with a new suspect, but today it was sadly followed by news that German prosecutors believe Madeleine to be dead. Britain’s capital is no stranger to racial tension, as Alex Wheatle knows well.
