Here's the story of one woman from Hammond who was forced out of her home by black mold — and who hasn't had a permanent home since. Her plight is sadly not unique: Homelessness has stayed higher than usual in the River Parishes, which took a direct hit from the storm. LSU's vet school keeps many of Baton Rouge's furry friends healthy. But for years, its clinic has needed more space. Now, the 40,000-square foot Stephenson Pet Clinic is open. Here's a look inside the new space, and how it will be good for pets and their owners. Since they were young, Caroline Weise, 17, and Ivy Jiang, 16, have been dancing in Baton Rouge's beloved annual performance of the Nutcracker. It's an experience they want to make sure kids who want to participate have the chance to do so — even if their parents can't afford it.
