Get free video training here >> - - - - Running your own business is not for everyone. For many years I thought anyone could do this. When friends were struggling at their job, or trying to find more purpose, or looking for a different direction, I always impressed upon them how entrepreneurship was their answer. "Work for yourself!" I'd encourage, waving my hands around to show them what it could look like. Because I felt that if I could do it, then anyone could. I was wrong. The older I get, the more experienced I become, the more people I meet - entrepreneurs and otherwise, I see the difference, loud and clear, between the ones of us who have what it takes to take the responsibility of our own work and life into our hands, and the ones who do not. There are people out there who do not have what it takes. There are little things that differentiate us entrepreneurs from the rest of the pack: We're self-starters. We're busting our asses instead of lazing about. (This happens on so many layers.) We eat risk for breakfast, and find it nourishing. We don't mind researching and learning. We know we don't have all the answers, and we don't let it stop us from doing anything. We don't shy away from massive responsibility. There are many more that I can point out, and I feel I need to concede and say that I surely know plenty of employed folks out there that exhibit plenty of these traits, and many wannabe-entrepreneurs who don't, but these are imperative for success in being your own boss. Then I get to that final factor that really makes or breaks an entrepreneur: the will, gumption, and audacity to keep going.
That's it. The simple, magical next step: Don't stop. Many of you will begin a path of entrepreneurship. And - statistically - many of your will give up. You stop. That's fine. Like I said, it's not for everyone. Not when there are much easier paths in the world. I get it. I shamelessly imagine a day job on the regular. Someone else paying my health insurance. Someone else managing projects and team members and even my own to-do list. But, as of today, I'm not stopping. Today I'll continue my path as an entrepreneur. Will you? TO-DO FOR YOU:
