The Sunday Round-Up | March 21, 2021

Good Sunday morning to you! We just arrived home from a week in Santa Barbara, which was our first real trip in over a year. We weren’t the only ones traveling, as TSA set all kinds of pandemic records this month. So far, there have been 10 consecutive days of more than one million or more people passing through U.S. security checkpoints. Is that a good thing? It is if we don’t experience another COVID-19 surge like many health experts fear. Fingers (and toes) are crossed that the vaccines are working against the variants and we won’t get locked down again like many countries around the world.

If we hadn’t been forced to leave our house because of emergency electrical repairs, we never would have experienced what it was like to travel over Spring Break during a pandemic. I will have all my stories written by next week but for now, I’ll tell you that we stayed in three different hotels and visited all kinds of outdoor attractions and so far, we feel good that we were able to travel safely … at least by car and in California.

Now, on to the Sunday Round-Up (scroll down to see what’s included), which is chock full of travel tips and travel news, as well as the week’s stories - including one about a map app all travelers need to download and a car rental tip from an ex-cop. Find those stories and all the rest below:

Face Masks

One thing is for sure: Face masks aren't going away anytime soon and if anything, travelers will need to wear medical-grade masks and/or double masks. Even when I go to the grocery store, I wear a KN95 and a cloth or surgical mask over it, just to be safe. Here are some posts to help you keep safe.
