This updated edition of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) User’s Manual version (v)1.18.11, is effective beginning October 1, 2023.
This version of the MDS 3.0 RAI Manual includes significant revisions in line with the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (IMPACT Act), which requires that standardized assessment items be collected across post-acute care (PAC) settings. The manual also includes updated language throughout to be gender neutral. The majority of chapters and appendices include revised guidance and examples that provide clarity and reflect current regulations and best practices.
