This Saturday’s “NO KINGS” protests are already being called the largest mass demonstration in U.S. history, with an estimated 4 to 6 million people showing up in peaceful, powerful solidarity. This is thrilling. This is hopeful.
I came across a quote on Instagram that perfectly captured the energy of the day:
“As we resist Trump’s tyranny, America gains solidarity. As we gain solidarity, we feel more courageous. As we feel more courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime. As we weaken Trump and his regime, we have less to fear. Today’s protests are about standing up to Trump—but they’re also about standing with each other.” It was shared widely so I couldn’t track down the original author, but it echoed exactly what I personally felt on Saturday.
And the fact that it all happened on Trump’s birthday, overshadowing his sad little attempt at a military parade (a hallmark of dictatorships, not democracies!), made it even sweeter. We got inspired to make a whole lot of lighter weight cotton styles for you all to show up in, on your summer trips, to the supermarket, and at the next rally. We the people? We've got this.
