 December 22, 2020  Seven months after the CARES Act, Congress finally passed a new coronavirus relief bill late Monday night. The $900 billion relief package is the result of marathon haggling over the last few weeks, with a lot of provisions meant to help ease the pain of the pandemic.
"So...why does it still feel like a disappointment?" Hayes Brown wonders in his latest essay. He compares the bill to the feeling on Christmas morning when a very specific wish list went ignored, with provisions that helped in March arbitrarily slashed in December.
The question is: how grateful should we be that this was apparently the best Congress could do?
