Intel Launches New Bitcoin Mining Chip, Blockscale By Namcios Intel has announced more details for its new bitcoin mining chip, the Intel Blockscale ASIC, which seeks to increase the energy efficiency of Proof-of-Work (PoW) mining, by leveraging the company's decades of research and development in related areas. According to the specifications and its focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, the new chip will operate with up to 26 J/TH and support up to 256 integrated circuits per chain. As of today, the mining sector suffers from insufficient ASIC supply due to the global chip shortage, and the limited amount of participants in the market. Intel's new machine will definitely have an impact in the short to medium term by increasing the miners availability. Among the first participants to benefit from the newly built miners which are expected to ship in the third quarter of this year are: Argo Blockchain Block Hive Blockchain GRIID “The Intel Blockscale ASIC is going to play a major role in helping bitcoin mining companies achieve both sustainability and hash rate scaling objectives in the years ahead” – Jose Rios, general manager of Blockchain and Business Solutions. |
