Abdul Aziz lives on Wasini Island in Kwale county. He lives with his family and goes to Mkwiro primary school. His favourite subject is math, and he hopes to become a pilot in the future. Outside of school, he enjoys swimming and playing football with friends.
To achieve his dreams, Abdul relies on light to study. With no electricity since he was born, he has had to rely on paraffin lamps. This was costly for the family and unhealthy due to the noxious fumes that are given off by the lamp.
With help from WWF, his school received solar lighting over a year ago. Now that solar has been installed, Abdul is able to do his homework at school in the evening and he's hoping to pass his upcoming national exams. Watch the heartwarming story of Abdul below.
The power of solar could light up Abdul's hopes of becoming a pilot one day.
