Dear Reader,
Every year at the Passover seder we tell the story of our liberation from slavery.
The Passover story has lessons to teach us even today, as we continue to fight for a more just society. But the act of telling the story is also one of the most important commandments of the holiday.
For more than 120 years and just as many Passovers, the Forward has been here as a scribe for our collective memory, a forum for the ongoing conversation, and a platform to shape our shared future. DONATE TO CONTINUE THIS LEGACYTelling the story of Jewish Americans is what the Forward does every day. We have been chronicling this first draft of our history — with integrity and chutzpah — since 1897, bearing witness to the struggles and successes of our community, telling the story through Jewish eyes.
The Forward was a lifeline for our parents and grandparents who depended on this voice of truth, culture, humor and connection, especially when times were hardest. We are the inheritors of the chutzpah of our immigrant ancestors, our extended family of resisters, rabble-rousers, rabbis and revolutionaries - those who didn’t just live the Jewish story but insist it gets told, to our children and their children.
The Forward has been a stalwart haggadah through it all.
If you believe in the obligation of telling our stories, donate to support the Forward this season.
A zisn un koshern peysakh — I hope your Passover is joyous and an enriching time of reflection.
