Good evening,

Plans for summer getaways this year are a bit like doing the hokey cokey.

Green, amber red...in, out, in out, shake it all about.

The Government is preparing to move more countries onto the dreaded amber list - including the Balearic Islands, which have only just been approved for quarantine-free travel, prompting a flood of bookings from the UK.

For many people who were looking forward to a week or so in the sun for the first time since March 2020, it will feel like another bitter blow. And for those who have already booked or are preparing to fly out, it leaves them in limbo.

But let’s not be completely downhearted. Take a look at the weather forecast for this weekend and even into next week and staying at home doesn’t actually seem like such a dismal prospect. Blue skies, bright sunshine and a gentle breeze are predicted for most parts of the UK, including here in Lancashire. So let’s forget our troubles for a few days and head to one of our many beauty spots...or get the barbeque out and ‘holiday’ at home.

Until next time, take care,
