The Republican threat to Medicare & Social Security

Republican leadership, led by Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy, has made it clear that they plan to end Medicare and Social Security as we know them. And now that they have secured control of the House of Representatives, Democrats must stop these attacks on Medicare and Social Security, which millions of Americans rely on to survive.

Time and time again Americans have declared their overwhelming support for Medicare and Social Security, yet Republicans have continued their attacks on these core pieces of the American safety net. We’ve defeated them each time, but we need your help.

The Democratic Party of Oregon has defended Social Security before, such as in 2005 when President George W. Bush attempted to privatize Social Security. Our grassroots organizing and communications will ensure that Oregon Republican House members Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Cliff Bentz feel the heat if they try to undermine our safety net programs. We'll stop them in 2023, just as we did in 2005.
