The first female IBM Fellow and woman to win the Turing Award, Frances “Fran” Allen, died 4 August 2020, the day of her 88th birthday. Despite the tragedy, Fran's impact will continue to be an inspiration for future generations of technologists and she will always be remembered as a pioneer in the world of computing.
