Until now, you've probably never thought to look around a restaurant to check out whether you're sitting next to an intake vent or an outflow vent. But if you're planning to eat in a restaurant unmasked (I don't know anyone who's figured out how to eat with a mask on yet), consider that recirculating air has been proven to carry the coronavirus from one table to another. In fact, a CDC study found that an outbreak in China started when an infected person transmitted the virus to people sitting at tables several feet away, likely because they were sitting near an AC's intake vent.
