By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor BACK BEHIND BARS: John Duncan was 14 years old when he shot and killed Daniel Breaux near the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and was sentenced to prison until his 31st birthday. Now, less than two years after his release, he's back behind bars, accused of gunning down a man in a wheelchair at the intersection of North Broad and Dumaine streets. BETTER RECEPTION: Mickey Loomis is more popular now than he was in 2005.When the New Orleans Saints general manager was looking for a head coach back then, he had to do most of the work, after the nomadic Saints went 3-13 and parted ways with Jim Haslett. "There wasn't anybody ringing my phone 16 years ago. I was having to ring theirs," Loomis said." And it wasn't always positive when I did get a hold of someone." This time around, however, the Saints are looking for a successor to the widely regarded, Super Bowl-winning Sean Payton, and Loomis said there's been "a lot of outreach, a lot of people interested in coming to New Orleans." THE FINAL BELL: Kathy Riedlinger abruptly retired Friday as CEO of Lusher Charter School, one of the most highly rated and attractive public schools in Louisiana, saying she will help her would-be successor for a bit before leaving Lusher altogether at the end of the spring semester.
