It only takes a glance at the Formula 1 World Championship constructors’ standings to witness evidence of Red Bull’s utter domination. After just two races, it already has twice the points of its nearest pursuer – the surprise package of 2023, Aston Martin – while giants Mercedes and Ferrari are the only other teams in double figures. After the big rules change last year switching to ground effect cars, which was meant to bring the grid closer together, Red Bull’s stunning blend of slippery aerodynamics on the straights, impressive downforce for the bends and consistent mechanical ride quality is the perfect combination. It has me struggling to find a weakness – beyond the odd broken driveshaft. Last year, Melbourne was the scene of what turned out to be a rare defeat.
