| Give your putts a chance to drop Nathan Morris, Golf Digest Certified Instructor GolfTec Westminster, Westminster, CO | Leaving putts short? For more speed at impact, it helps to shorten your follow-through—that’s right shorten it. You’ll accelerate earlier in the forward stroke so you have more speed when you strike the ball. Try my drill to groove proper acceleration. First, find a straight putt and set a ball about 10 feet from the hole. Then, stick two tees in the green six to eight inches in front of your ball (one left and one right of your target line) to mark the end of your through-stroke. Hit a few putts through the tees and to the hole, with the putterhead stopping short of the tees. You’ll learn to deliver more energy at impact and get more putts to the hole. | |
