| | A fresh take on an old problem Yesterday, I interviewed a founder that is moving to Baltimore after completing a local accelerator. The founder said, “Baltimore doesn’t have a retention problem, it has an acquisition problem.” We know that Baltimore is an outlier along this East Coast corridor, where most other cities' populations grew. Given that reality, what do you think the city should do? How can Baltimore convince more founders, professionals and others to live in the city? Is the founder right that it's less about keeping them here, and more about getting them here to see what Baltimore has to offer in the first place? A thread for those looking to make a career switch into tech but only have a high school education. Thread participants often suggested PO/SM roles, which refers to "Product Owner" or "Scrum Master" in the agile project management style many tech companies use. The Product Owner acts as a bridge between the dev and business sides. Think of them as the person keeping the product aligned with the business and consumers' best interests. The Scrum Master instead is a coach and referee for project management. They align projects to the agile framework, conduct team meetings and ensure the dev team can execute their goals without outside interference.
